The four seasons

The weather in Finland varies a lot. In summer we can have 30 °C but in winter we can have up to -35 °C.

We have four seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn. In the winter the temperature is around -35 °C to -0 °C. The weather during the winter is often cold and snowy. But in the southern parts of Finland we don't have as much snow as in the north, in Lapland. In Lapland they often have over one meter of snow in the winter.

The spring "starts" approximately in March. In April-May the snow has melted and it's around 10 °C.

We Finns say that June, July and August are the "summer months". It's very beautiful in Finland in summer. We often have from 20 °C up to 30 °C.

The Finnish summer

summer

The Finnish summer is short! The beginning of autumn is often very warm in Finland. October is the month when it starts to rain and the leaves fall down from the trees. It's about 5 °C to 15 °C in the autumn.

And to them who don't know ANYTHING about Finland, we don't have polar bears...

The weather in November

November is a grey month. In November it usually starts raining and the weather gets colder, sometimes we even get a little snow! November is the "last month" before the winter months, so it's natural that it gets colder. If you come to Finland in November you should be prepared for rain and have warm clothes with you. In the autumn many people get sick, and you can prevent that by using warm clothes!
